I've been thinking about starting this new little feature for a while now but, being the perfectionist I am, got stuck just thinking of a name for it. I am a massive geek, watching and playing a whole load of stuff that I just never talk about on here. So I thought if I made a feature where I can chat about the things I'm watching/playing/reading/etc, then I'd feel a bit more comfortable doing so. Strange I know, but does that makes sense?
Back to the name -- reading other people's posts that do something similar, they seem to be called something like "What I'm..." then on to whatever reading/listening/watching/etc. So from a stroke of genius, I've merged "What" and "I'm" together, and thus 'WIM' was born! I know, creativity gold.
Let's get started...
What I'm Watching
Fear The Walking Dead -- It feels so good to have our flesh-eating walkers back gracing our screens again. I've been waiting for this spin-off from the Walking Dead series for what seems like forever. Pretty much a prelude to TWD, it's telling the story of 'how' the zombie apocalypse started. If I'm being completely honest, I did feel like the 1st ep was a little boring. I know, I know - 1st eps are always story builders. You just can't help but expect so much from it considering how well TWD has done. It'll be interesting to see which direction they take the series, keeping true or even tying in to the main story.
Blast Of Tempest -- From as far back as I can remember, I've always watched anime. Some I've grown up with; Pokemon, Naruto, Bleach, Dragonball Z- to name a few. I've recently started watching various 1-off series and one that I've just finished that I thoroughly enjoyed, Blast the Tempest. It follows the story of Fuwa Mahiro his friend Takigawa Yoshino trying to find out more about the mysterious murder of his sister. Oh, and save the world at the same time, too. Loads of magic, great combat sequences and an amazing art style - it's definitely one worth checking out. And remember, you should always watch them subbed - English dubbing for any anime is terrible.
What I'm Playing
Until Dawn -- Before being an artist, a geek, a blogger I'm a gamer. Just in case you didn't know, I probably been gaming since the age of 3? So if you're looking for a team mate, I'm your guy! I picked up new horror game Until Dawn last week and have been blown away by how unique the gameplay is and how amazing the graphics are. It follows a group of friends returning to a ski lodge high up a mountain a year after losing 2 of their friends, but soon find out that they're being hunted in the name of revenge! You play each character throughout the story, with every action you take changing the outcome of the story through the "butterfly effect". The gameplay itself only extends to you walking, investigating and hitting button prompts - but the story and sheer tenseness of it makes up for it not being the usual hack and slash. Check out my gameplay above, taking Sam through one of the earlier parts of the story.
What I'm Drawing
Currently working on this picture of Kakashi from one of my favourite anime, Naruto. Need to finish off the shadows and highlights, then come up with a suitable background.
That's it for now guys. I thought I'd keep my first one rather short, but let me know if you enjoyed it or not :) I'm also interesting in knowing what you've been watching/playing/drawing/reading/etc this past week as well, along with any good book recommendations. I'm in need of something new for the commute.
