I asked blogger Joanna Barlow to describe her day in tea...
Do you have a daily routine?
I am such a routine girl. How do people even live without a routine? Since the invasion of The Toddler into my life, it's all the more important. My day ideally starts at 7am (if someone could tell The Toddler that, that would be fab) when I jump in the shower and then simultaneously make breakfast for me and my son, apply makeup, rescue my mascara wand from sticky toddler hands, get us both dressed and rush out the door 5 minutes late. Every. Single. Morning. From there it's off to my job in customer services for the morning, home to be a mummy for the afternoon and an evening of working out, staring at social media, working on the blog and Skyping my boyfriend.
Could you tell us what you do?
I spend my life being bossed around by my two year old, so I go to work every morning for a rest. And to drink copious amounts of tea.
When's your first cup of tea?
I would love to say it's first thing in the morning, but due to having no time to make, let alone drink a cuppa, I arrive at work parched and immediately lay out three drinks on my desk before I start my working day. Yup, three. Water, a smug healthy homemade juice and the all important tea. Although, here's a confession. I don't actually drink tea. Not your normal tea anyway. I'm all about the herbal. And the green. And the lemon water. Which for the purposes of this I am classing as tea.
What's your preferred tea-making ritual?
Not a ritual as such, but a habit (which some of my colleagues are rather disgusted by) - I make a tea bag last for four cups of tea. Yup. I leave the bag in and just keep topping it up with water. Money and time saving. Winning.
Did you drink tea as a child?
Nope. I actually had my first cup of tea when I was at uni. And my first coffee was last month. Am I allowed to mention coffee here? Did I basically just swear?
Confess. Can you say no to biscuits or cake? Are you a dunker?
My willpower is actually pretty good. Unless it's *that* time of the month. Or somebody's birthday. Or Tuesday.
Which is your favourite cuppa of the day?
My late evening cup of tea (either ginger or camomile) whilst Skyping my boyfriend (not a euphemism) We're long distance so face time is all important.
Is there one break that's non-negotiable?
Toddler nap time. That's probably my most vital tea time. If I don't get that chance to recharge I am liable to be rather grumpy.
Milk or tea in the cup first?
On the very rare occasion that I drink the hard stuff, it's always tea first.
And finally, any projects or news you would like to talk about?
Well I've just relaunched my blog as Teacups & Trainers so I'm working hard on getting that off the ground and writing as much content as possible. So watch this space!
